“Hope and a Prayer,” Is a mixed-media installation that blends the use of photo lithographic transfer of images of collaged comestibles and household products onto delicate, coffee-stained gauze. It is accompanied by an altered book, some of whose pages have had words excised, creating a new story, revealing words in new contexts and reflecting an imaginary and perilous Balsero story. The ghost-like items printed on the gauze are the symbolic motivations for the journey. That is, the hope of stocked shelves, and full bellies that are the results of abundant work opportunities! That is the hope and what is prayed for.
