COMING HOME LEAVING
Maria Cristina Jadick
ARTIST STATEMENT
Maria Cristina Jadick’s work is multi-disciplinary. Her conceptual, conscience-driven, process-oriented and hybrid art combines printmaking, drawing, painting, photography and collage with visual languages that come from domestic activity such as the seam, patch and stitch of sewing, to integrate discordant ideas and images.
She combines iconic American themes including baseball, the innocence of youth, duty and service, the military, home, hearth, Mom, and Apple Pie with harsh realities of war; such as, human displacement, loss of life, and scarcity of potable water, to form thought provoking, quilt-like works.
