The following art pieces are a visual evocation of the subject of human displacement. They broadly address the issue while alluding to the associated suffering that results from border disputes, natural and manmade disasters, political chaos, economic disparity, poverty, famine and battle for natural resources. My work serves as a basis for discussion as it can be viewed from many perspectives. Displacement is a topic worthy of our attention in terms of understanding causal factors and finding potential remedies. Current events offer examples of it the world over.

Increased global competition for diminishing supplies of fossil fuels, particularly in the Middle East, along with greater indications of worldwide climate change, together sound a wake-up call for recognition of the need to conserve energy and push for immediate development of better alternative and sustainable energy sources. Fearing for the future safety of my two teen-aged sons as our country engages in war on multiple fronts, I made work premised on a perceived need for greater public discussion about U.S. foreign policy.
